tropical fish food

Many different types of tropical fish food are available, such as flakes, wafers, pellets, micro-pellets and sinking pellets etc. These products have all been carefully developed with fish nutritionists, in order to ensure that all the micro and macro nutrients are offered in the right quantities. To go into a little more details, flaked food is the most commonly purchased food, as it is suitable for most types of fish and is relatively inexpensive. However, certain breeds of tropical fish requires either floating or sinking pellets, and won’t be able to survive very well on flaked food.

As a rule of thumb, no matter which food you purchase, you should typically fed you fish once a day, providing just enough food as the fish will eat within 2 minutes. Many fish owners feed their fish too often or provide too much food. This can cause numerous problems, such as clogging up filters and polluting the water. If you are going away for an extended period, you can purchase holiday blocks, which you place in your tank, providing your fish with a constant supply of food, which won’t pollute the water.
