I'm a first time dog owner having recently adopted a Whippet / Staffie X from the RSPCA. I tried a few balls, chews, toys etc. over the first month or so, but found they got destroyed very quickly (the Staffie half, I think). The Vets & the RSPCA mentioned Kongs so I tried this one out; I thought it was quite expensive for a bit of rubber, tho.
Well it may be expensive, but I have found it very good value as she will chase it all day with its unpredictable bounce and there is no damage at all after 2 months chewing. You can also stuff it with cheese or whatever as advertised & keep her occupied.
I also find it a bit more stimulating as the thrower of the Kong, as you can influence the bounce more than with balls, and if you get it right, you don't have to throw hard to send it a long way (I've got a bad shoulder).
Just be careful not to throw it too near thick vegetation 'cos it can bounce off-line easily & can be difficult to find!
